Additional health expense is 1, 5 TL for every TL spent on cigarette

According the World Health Organization for every dollar spent on cigarette we have to spend another 1, 5 dollar for health expenses. This means 400 billion dollars annual amount spent on cigarette causes 600 billion dollars health expense. For Turkey, this amounts to 18 billion dollars for 12 billion dollars. 25 billion dollars were spent on health problems caused by smoking while the tax income drawn from cigarette was hardly 11 billion dollars. The Social Security Institution alone spent 20 over billion dollars. In addition non-smokers pay twice as much insurance premium because of smokers.
