Evaluating the complaints from citizens, the Presidency of Religious Affairs, announced that the staff who smoke will not be assigned to duty of pilgrimage starting from this year.
Head of Religious Affairs Ali Erbaş reminded people that in order for the citizen who wish to fulfill their religious duties in a beautiful, healthy and peaceful way, the religious staff has a lot of responsibility and duty, in the letter that was sent to 81 provinces and central units with his signature.
In the article that emphasized this situation is not appropriate to the spiritual atmosphere of the holy land as well as guiding and setting an example for the pilgrimage passengers and the following statements were included:
“Many of our citizens who were on their pilgrimage or Umrah visit with our organization sent, are still sending, and complaints to our Department about this issue which is not appropriate. In this respect, non-smoker personnel will be preferred rather than smoking personnel in the interviews. In the following years, smoking personnel will not be assigned to the duty of pilgrimage. I kindly ask the staff to focus on the subject and announce it to all staff in return for their signature.”
