On June 21, 2013, upon the invitation of Siirt Governor and former Istanbul Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Provincial Tobacco Board Mr. Ahmet Aydın, the Turkish Anti-Smoking Association’s President Dr. Mustafa Aydın, Vice President Güneri Özsoy, and Deputy Chairman Akif Köksel gave a conference on “The Reality of Smoking” at Siirt Cultural Center. The conference was attended by the Siirt Governor, former Istanbul Deputy Governor, and Chairman of the Provincial Tobacco Board Ahmet Aydın, and Siirt Mayor Selim Sadak. Following the opening speech by President Dr. Mustafa Aydın, Güneri Özsoy and Akif Köksel gave a seminar on the health hazards of smoking. At the end of the seminar, Dr. Aydın presented a plaque from the Turkish Anti-Smoking Association to the Siirt Provincial Health Director in appreciation of their awareness-raising event and kind invitation.
